NBA Draft Class 2001: Retrospective – Beyond a Decade in the NBA

While the Draft Class of 2001 is infamous for having Kwame Brown, widely panned as one of the worst draft busts in NBA history, for its first pick, it is also the class that produced three European All-Stars: Pau Gasol, Tony Parker and Mehmet Okur. It is also noted for having Jason Collins, the first openly gay, active NBA player in history.

After more than a decade since the 2001 draft, the class has produced 8 NBA All-Stars, 1 Defensive Player of the Year Awardee, 6 All-NBA Awardees, 3 All-NBA Defense Awardees, 3 Most Improved Player of the Year Awardees, 2 NBA J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Awardees for Philanthropy, 1 NBA Team-mate of the Year Awardee, 9 players have gone on to win an NBA Championship — with 3 more than once, and 1 NBA Finals MVP Awardee.

Below is a run-down of all the significant achievements of the 2001 Draft Class in the NBA and the International (FIBA) Stage as of August 2014. Enjoy. 🙂
